Loading... Please wait...Witch Hazel with its mild anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties has distinct benefits for women during and after pregnancy.
The cleansing and infection fighting benefits make it an ideal treatment (in small doses) for all sorts of pregnancy related issues:
Hemorrhoids are varicose (swollen) veins of the rectum and are usually painful. Unfortunately, hemorrhoids are not uncommon during pregnancy. They most often appear during the third trimester. Witch hazel can be used to reduce swelling or bleeding. If you had an episiotomy or vaginal tear during delivery, you can use an ice pack, or wrap ice in a washcloth dipped in witch hazel.
It can also be used to treat bruises, sprains, skin problems and internal injuries or bleeding. Today, witch hazel is used to treat eye injuries, suppress heavy menstrual flow, control minor pain and itching, burns, skin abrasions, dermatitis and inflammation.
