10 Great Reasons to use bumGenius Cloth Nappies

We checked out a pack of 56 pampers on Tesco.ie recently and they cost €11.49 which works out at 20 cent per nappy. Now imagine you would use anywhere between 5-10 nappies a day so thats an average of €1.50 a day or €547 a year - already way more than  your bumgenius nappies cost. And your baby will probably be in nappies for at least 2.5 years which is a staggering €1368 in total - eek! Yes, you will be doing a bit more laundry which will add to your bills but you can save that on fewer bin charges. All in all it save you a great big whack of money!

Most disposable nappies contain strong chemical gels and absorbants which are toxic to the environment and spend up to 200 years hanging around landfills before seeping their toxins back into the earth. Cloth nappies are produced once and once only, so thats only one carbon footprint of energy to make them compared to lots of energy to produce all those disposable ones.

3. They help regulate your babies body temperature

Because your baby can breathe better in cloth nappies, it can reduce their temperatue by 1-2 degrees, very useful if they have a temperature and you want to get it down as uicly as possible. Its also great for baby boys to keep the temperature lower in their nappy area.

4. They help with your babies hip development

One of those little gems of interest we came across recently is that cloth nappies in thier cute bulkiness are actually great for babies hip development because they keep the babies legs apart in a more natural way.

5. No more smelly black bins

We live in a terraced house so before we used cloth nappies, we had the weekly joy of trailing a black bin of smelly nappies through the house.. No more of that now!

6. Reduced bin charges

Most Irish familes using disposables claim up to half their bins are nappies. So thats only half the bin tags required now!

If you are out and about and don't want the hassle of bringing home dirty nappies, you can use disposables then.
